I'm finally finished with an oil painting that took a good two or three months out of my life but it was well worth it in the end. It's kind of a continuation of a water color piece named Pollyt Dermilom, but in retrospect that name sounds kind of silly so rather than call this version 2 I named it with the more appropriate Earthway to Heaven:

It's quite big and elaborate so I added some detail images as well. Just click on the picture to see them.

Projoctor times:

Klaus Kinski

I made a portrait of one of my favorite actors of all time, Klaus Kinski. A megalomaniac loudmouth legend that I chose to portray in bright yellow contrasts on black background to carry out the relief effect to the fullest. It's a small painting but it took more time to do than expected. I really like the end result. It's interesting how some vaguely marked features can define a face so precisely.

My dad lent me a projector that will help me in my work. Those of you that paint yourselves will probably understand what I'm going to use it for, but I promise you won't notice ;) Check it out:

Another thing is that I'm currently working on a quite elaborate project that'll take a lot of time to complete, but I hope to have it done within a month or so. Right now i would say that it's 70% finished but I never know what kind of details that will have to be added as is develops. So probably it's closer to 60% done. It will be here eventually and as of now I'm proud of it.

I also have a new blog that you unfortunately have to know swedish to understand. It's focused on my comics. I figured it's a great way to make your opinion heard and I'd rather burden some other site with the space than my own. It'll (sadly and hopefully) get more attention over there too. I pretty much let my comics do the talking for me.
And I'm going to see the concert Zappa plays Zappa in June. Whooopee! Thrilled!

Two new vectorized versions of old paitings.

RC2 New Wave

Werevolving New Wave

Very fun!

New painting, the third inspired by my trip to Recife, Brasil. This one started out as an action painting and ended up depicting a landscape I originally intended for a much more elaborate detail work with the brush. This one is exclusively made with a pallet knife, not counting the signature which is very hard to pull off with that particular tool on such a small painting. Maybe I'll learn to do that as well in the future but in the meantime we'll have to settle with this crude fashion:

Porto de Galinhas

It means "port of the chicken" and those things sticking up from the sand... Well, I'm not gonna tell you what they are. And I admit, it's somewhat inspired by the the work of Leonid Afremov.

Just entered the magical world of vectors. The cool thing about vectors is that they're an artist's best friends because they´re infinite; you can zoom in forever and it never looks pixely. This meaning that if you have enough doe and enough space you can vectorize some random holiday pic and print it up as large as you want. You know that saying: "If it's big enough, it's art"?
No? Well, maybe because I just made it up. Anyway, I gave an old painting a vector treatment and it turned out great. Check it out:

RC New Wave

I've also done the same thing with with an old comic strip, or box, or whatever you call it when it's just one picture:

I was commissioned to make a logotype for a band called "The Jester" and this is the result I came up with. Check out the group on their Myspace, they're great!

I've also made a new painting more in tune with my dear old action-spasm-nerve that's been lying dormant for far too long. Called it

Werewolving

Painted in alla prima (one sitting) because I wanted to get the sense of an instant in the transformation from man to wolf.
Interestingly and ironically enough; the pieces I get most praise for (e.g. Frau Farben, Ratcrap) are the ones that took no time at all to make; ten minutes or so. At the same time; the ones that I spent hours on end on are being overlooked like advertisement for... I don't know. Can't come up with a good comparison but suffice it to say that it really sucks.

Tough world!

The store is now open!

In there you'll also find two new paintings:

Girl with knit hat

The Puffin

Girl with white knit hat is a portrait of a girl I know. I didn't ask for permission to use her name so I just chose a very obvious title. Apparently I have a clear affinity for eyes. So her ex-boyfriend told me anyways. Her knot hat struck me in it's brilliance and so did her scarf. Out in the open they were aglow like fireflies. I really like that.

Puffins I just love. I've been waiting ages for painting a puffin. I don't believe this will be the las puffin I paint.

I've also made a change in my link section. I've listed some of the sites I frequently visit. I especially advise you to check out Leonid Afremov's site.- His artwork is amazing!

New oil paintings:

Brasileira

Filha do Frevo

Audrey Hepburn

I´m really proud of all of them. The first two ones are inspired from two photos I took in Brazil. Brasileira was a little shy girl that lived in a Favela called Peixinhos in Recife. Peixinhos means "Fishies" and is taken from a lake that used to flow through the area but it's no there anymore. Due to all the garbage being thrown down there the river has fried up to the point that it's just a narrow brook. And no fishies live there anymore. Quite saddening.

Filha do Frevo is in portuguese and means Girl of Frevo. Frevo is a traditional dance in Pernambuco that I didn't care for too much to be honest, but I did like the colors of the clothes. I thought is was a cute image and I wanted to show my appreciation for the people of Recife who took me to their homes, hearts and arts.

Portrait of Audrey Hepburn. Well, what I can I say? I just love her, she's angelic. The most beautiful woman that ever lived and I flattered myself in presuming I could justify her beauty with a painting. But love makes you do irrational things sometimes I guess.

Launching the new version of the site. Hope you like it.
I've also made two paintings i oil:

Valborg

Stray Cats

Valborg is a painting of Örebro Castle in my hometown; Örebro obviously. It depicts the celebration of the first day of Spring called Valborg. A real crowd pleaser and one of the few traditions we have in Sweden with fireworks, choirs, cannons and speeches being made. The fire in the lake is lit by flaming arrows. Everything is very uplifting and magical in a way.

Stray Cats is from a photo I took in Jerusalem, Israel several years back. I just though it was an interesting image. I'm allergic to cats but I really like their style. So free. Free like art.

Eu voltei para Suécia mas eu nunca queria. Queria ficar lá com meus amigos em Recife.

I'm back from Brazil. Had an incredible time there and got a lot of new experience, sights and friends. It's hard to put it into words how much it gave me but let's just say it was the best trip I've made so far. I didn't just learn portuguese (it takes a lot more than a year of speaking it to learn it completely btw) but I also learned to smile and treat everyone with respect.
I probably matured some more but it hasn't all sunk in yet so we'll see in the future. Didn't create any art there though I got to know a lot of inspiring artists there. Olinda, one of the cities where I lived is a desirable attraction for artists all over the world who hungers for inspiration.

At LAST!!!

I've worked very hard for this and it's finally finished! But only in swedish I'm afraid. Learn swedish.
I'm extremely proud of it and it's been a project that has lasted ever since I came back from Portugal. Percy Fern is an homage to a comic I made when I was twelve or something. Please, pay it a visit.

On another notice, I'm going away to work in Brazil for six months now on a project in Recife called Diaconia. I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be back in 2008. I see you then.

So check this out!

CBY T-shirt design

It's official now. Feels weird to finally have some of my work used in a commercial way. Sure it's not much and sure I don't make any money off of it, but it's something and I'm proud of it.

I'm sorry I've been very lack-luster in the sense of bringing out more artwork and the reason for that is that I've channeled all my artistic attentions to a comic that's currently in production. It's called "Percy Fern" and it's an homage to a comic I made when I was twelve or something. It's very humorous and even though it's not even close to being finished, I am very proud of it. I won't let you in on any further details I'm afraid.

So I'm back. I'd like to add finally here but no. I've had a great time in Portugal and I met so many interesting people, the children were the most interesting of all. I can't sum up six months worth of work sufficiently in words, so I'll leave you with the promise that sometime soon I'll add on to my OTW-section with a lot of creative works I got to make over there.

And I did get to learn the language. I now speak portuguese, not exactly like a native but still pretty good for just having been there six months...

Ate já!
